61-year old pilot Ron Boychuk went missing in October during a flight from Revelstoke to Qualicum Beach.
Some new technology is now being used to help with search efforts.
Volunteers can search online satellite imagery using Google Earth and files provided by a US-based satellite analysis organization.
Founder of Internetsar.org, Ken Barbalace, says once you are logged on, you are assigned a set of imagery that loads into Google Earth, "And it lays down new satellite photos taken after Boychuk went missing on top of existing Google Earth satellite photos that were taken before. What people do is they look between the old and new imagery and see if they see an anomaly in the photo and whether it's in the old photos."
Barbalace says they are also helping with the search for adventurer Steve Fossett, whose plane disappeared in Nevada.
You can log on for either of the searches at www.internetsar.org
